There are games out there that don't conform to the conventional visual style you've talked about. Just look at Crackdown, Eternal Sonata, and even the Naruto game out on the 360; the former two being a couple of my favourite games! I'm not too worried about where the future of gaming is headed, unless EA end up buying up all the competition. Then I'll be shitting myself.

Metal Gear Solid 4 may very well be the greatest game I have ever played. I'm pretty happy with where the market is headed right now, I love the photo realism, and if anything the art of making games is maturing, meaning a lot of the genres and titles have already been created--however there still is innovation coming.

The third party developers of the Wii haven't yet figured out whats good and whats not. The DS was revolutionary as is the Wii hardware, and in time they will figure out how to make superior titles.

Little Big Planet coming out for the Playstation 3 is absolutely innovative, part of the reason I bought a PS3. Spore is coming soon as well. Ask Jinno about the Microsoft's XNA architecture that will allow amateurs to cheaply develop games. We could end up with another innovative title like Portal. Wii has their Wiiware titles.

While these huge blockbuster titles are big budget, entertaining but more of the same, there are more and more options available for new developers to break into the market. But after playing through Metal Gear Solid 4, it truly blends the lines between movies and games for an amazingly entertaining experience. I'm okay with it.

Its funny because I really hate running, but I could easily see myself starting to like it after awhile. I wouldn't be suprised if most of the things we initially don't enjoy could turn out to be quite fun after we get used to them. Hmmm.. like programming :P.

I'm with Jinno on this one. While I've used Windows for a while and have been okay with it, Linux is the real victor. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04: the interface is just as easy to use as Mac, and it also comes with support for many languages. Ubuntu comes with no junk software, just some basics that anyone would expect to have: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email, browser, calendar, graphics editor, media player, etc.

And it is by no means a pain to set up, just download the installer and run! Look at my blog post on how to install a variety of Linux distributions quickly and easily: http://blog.geekblake.22web.net/2008/06/unetbootin-makes-it-easier-to-install-linux/
